Toilet Language
I met my landlord last night. She was an older woman with a broken leg who doggedly refused to believe that I couldn't understand a single word of what she said. I was going out of the door to grab a beer with Kurt when she hobbled over to say hello and stick her head into my room.
Since my bathroom needed some repairs I told her to come over and look at my malfuntioning toilet. She made some rapid fire observations outloud in Korean as I simply said "It's broke, fix it" in English. In hindsight, if I knew the word for Toilet, or Broken, my life would have been much simplier. She called for her husband a few times, and went to find him before we left to go eat. I gave her my card, but she didn't call my to fix my toilet all day. I'm no plumber, but I could fix the problem if I knew how to order a "toilet bowl seal gasket" in Korean.
I wonder if my Korean lessons have a "Broken Toilet" lesson that would make my life so much more simple.
