Siesta time

In my middle school class we were learning about Diego Rivera, famous Mexican mural artist. My students never saw the movie Frida, so I had to tell them a few things they didn't mention in the biography of his life. While I was giving them the background, a few Spanish words came up.

Since Korean children have no real exposure to the Spanish language, I like to teach them the few words I remember from my distant high school Spanish education. Since the students aren't technically allowed to have a break anymore, I called it a "siesta time" and let them sleep or rest instead of going to play on the computers. We didn't actually sleep, but we took a break.

The students thought the idea of people shutting down businesses to sleep off the afternoon was an awesome idea. It's not surprising since these kids have such large sleep debts that most of them spend any holidays they have trying to catch up on shut eye instead of enjoying themselves.
